How We Research Our Guides and Data
Every cost guide, article and data report on EpoxyMatch follows the same rules. This page explains them, so you can judge our numbers for yourself.
Where our numbers come from
- Manufacturer data sheets. For cure times, working time, coverage and application limits, we use the technical data sheets that coating manufacturers publish for their own products, and we name the product and manufacturer each time. Our polyaspartic floor coating guide compares six of them side by side.
- Public data. For population and housing figures we use US Census Bureau data, such as the American Community Survey count of owner-occupied homes used in our 2026 state report.
- Trade and news sources. Industry publications and local news outlets, named in the text where we use them.
- Our own directory. Counts of contractors listed on EpoxyMatch. We always describe these as contractors listed on EpoxyMatch, never as the whole market.
We do not use numbers from anonymous or auto-generated websites, and we do not invent figures to fill a gap. If we cannot find a reliable source for a number, we leave it out.
How we check them
- Every figure in a guide is traced back to its source before publishing.
- Charts and diagrams are built from those same figures, then checked against the article text.
- When sources disagree, for example two data sheets giving different drive-on times, we show the range and name both sources instead of picking one.
- We do not publish percentages from very small samples, such as a state with only a handful of listed contractors.
How we use software and AI
We use software tools, including AI, to help research, draft and check our content. Every guide is reviewed before it is published, and every number is checked against its source.
Independence
No contractor or manufacturer pays to be mentioned in our guides, and payment for any future paid listing feature will never change what a guide says. We do not rank contractors.
